Rhema Food Bank

The Rhema Foodbank is a non-profit food distribution organization providing food for the needy while striving to end hunger in Edmonton and the Alberta Region. We are comprised of a dedicated group of individuals who desire to eliminate poverty and hunger through effective distribution. Collectively, we are able to respond to the challenges faced by Food Banks in Alberta. Please visit and support our food Bank where volunteers, funding and food are always in demand.

MISSION STATEMENT
To find and distribute food to people living in poverty through an efficient network, and to raise awareness of the effect of food insecurity.

VISION STATEMENT

A joint approach to develop scope through which members can subdue hunger & food insecurity.

PRINCIPLES
We share our resources and information, and conduct our affairs with integrity, honesty and transparency while honoring required confidentiality. As an inclusive organization, we seek and respect the valued opinions of members.

OPERATIONS

Edmonton
In its effort to reach out to Edmontonians, Rhema Food Bank in collaboration with the Edmonton’s Food Bank, distributes food items to families across Edmonton.

Maskwacis
Rhema Food Bank is currently running a program in the Maskwacis First Nations, providing food items to individuals, families and the community soup kitchen. With the programs in Louis Bull and the Montana First Nations, we are able to reach out to these communities as we continue the fight against food insecurity.

OUR HISTORY
Affiliated to Rhema Chapel of The Redeemed Christian Church Of God, and started as a food depot for The Edmonton Food bank, The Rhema Food Bank (RFB) currently operates with over 28 volunteers and distributes donated and purchased food. In fiscal year 2014-15, RFB distributed over 22,410 pounds of non-perishable food and fresh produce, dairy products to families in the Edmonton area. We are currently one of the few depots open for distribution on weekends and as such, we are experiencing an increase of people lined up for food pick–ups on Saturdays. The depot is central and accessible and there’s need to serve more people as the numbers increase every week.
